Covet is co-owned by Ray and Sally Poorman. He’s the behind-the-scenes support person, and I (Sally) do all the shopping for the shop, which I thoroughly enjoy. I love color and design, handmade products and independent designers, so the shop is a little burst of color and art. I try to find unique products that haven’t previously been available in Bellingham, with the idea that everyone has room for a little bit of art in their home and their life. While we do have a focus on handcrafted items, we also have rounded out our shop with some mass-produced designs that were just too cute to pass up, such as San Francisco designer Rae Dunn’s adorable ceramics line.

I’m constantly on the lookout for new designers to bring in, and I’ll keep a blog current with new inventory as it arrives. Being a new store, we’re interested in what our customers would like to see as well, so recommendations and suggestions are always considered.

Our shop dog Jack, “works” here in the store with me. Due to popular demand, I’ll mention his hours, which are Wednesday and Thursday, 11am - 5pm, and Friday/Saturday 11am - 6pm. Jack isn’t usually in the shop Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. He’s a totally friendly little guy, a Jackhuahua (Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix) who loves people. You can expect that he’ll usually greet you at the door, attention-hound that he is.
