James Boyce Candles

I am just in love with Voluspa’s James Boyce candle collection. Renowned chef Boyce worked with Voluspa to create candle scents specifically to complement cooking, and I can attest that they are wonderful in a kitchen to take away the cooking odors you might not want, and make your kitchen smell mouthwatering. My personal favorite is Herb Garden, a mix of Black Chantarelle and Cardamom Flower.

The candles come in either a 3-wick tin (shaped as a chef hat) or for a fabulous hostess gift, there is a gorgeous wooden boxed glass candle as well.

Holiday Villainess!

Just in, a new batch of our favorite bath and body line, Villainess. My personal favorite holiday treat is their winter-edition Scintillating sugar scrub, in a lovely pale pink color with actual bits of peppermint candy. It’s vanilla-minty deliciousness, and we have it in soap, body butter and sugar scrub.

Also just in for the holidays: Mall Santa: the pervasive scent of cinnamon buns and cream cheese frosting, underscored with cheap whiskey, tobacco stains, toffee candies and delicious filthy lucre. Available in sugar scrub, soap and body butter.

Just Desserts: blood oranges dripping over a warm, resinous vanilla, wrapped in a dry peel of orange zest. Also available in sugar scrub, soap and body butter.

We have limited quantities of each, so be sure to come by and stock up.

We also have two fabulous new candle and home fragrance lines: Royal Apothic (as seen on November’s O List) and James Boyce by Voluspa. If you’re a fan of luxe candles as I am, be sure to check these out.

We’ve carried a selection of Papaya Art’s beautiful office goods, paper, journals and art board prints since we opened, but we recently got in some of their gorgeous art canvases and were blown away by the quality and beauty of these in person. They need to be seen in person, for the hand-detailed accents. Fully wrapped canvases are finished on all sides, ready to hang and beautify your space.

When we shopping in Seattle last month, Sanda and I stumbled upon a line we hadn’t seen before, of absolutely gorgeous everyday tote bags. As the story goes, the company started when designer Lisa Murphy made totes for herself, and found her friends asking her to make them totes as well. Her eye for gorgeous colors and little details turned her designs into a hit. I always know it’s something we have to carry when Sanda and I are both drooling over something. The bags are waterproofed cotton (how important is that in Washington?), with grosgrain or leather handles. Lunch bags, totes, and large market bags are in stock now. This is green re-use made to last AND look super-fashionable.

There are beautiful fabrics to choose from, and sizes from small to “wow”. Come by the shop to see our immediate gratification selection, or to pick out a custom mix that is exactly your heart’s desire.

and we have some beautiful baubles just for her, from classic to trendy, in prices from $40 - $104. Shown is the “I love mom” necklace, in sterling with a single elegant freshwater pearl. Also shown, “me and mom”, 2 matching gold-dipped sterling heart necklaces so you each can wear one. Handmade in the U.S., beautifully boxed for giving with recycled materials.

Also just in: gorgeously packaged soaps from Tokyo Milk. I like to use products I buy, and these are so pretty it’s almost a shame to unwrap them - however, I’m just going to find a way to re-use the packing for something. The skull soap shown is a wonderful masculine scent, but there are many to choose from, all with glittery accents. The soap itself is a great big bar of shea-butter goodness.

Come by to see what's new!

Spring is here!

Spring came in with a bang yesterday, pouring rain, and high winds, thankfully it’s settled down and the sun is out today.

Sally has been busy bringing in more curious things for the store including fragrances and lip balms from Tokyo Milk.  My personal favorite is Dead Sexy, it has a pirate emblem of course.

She also found some puffy picture frames (you have to see these…), and of course more comfy pajama’s from PJ Salvage.

Coming soon our webstore, so stay tuned.
Valentine’s is approaching!>

Valentine’s is approaching!

January 29th, 2009       No Comments

I love Valentine’s Day - not necessarily as the romantic couple holiday it’s marketed as, our own tradition is a bit different. Since Ray and I celebrate our anniversary the week before Valentine’s Day, what we do instead is family Valentine dinner. I set the table with pinks and reds, candy and flowers, and in addition to the five of us, we usually have a friend or two of the girls, and a friend or two of ours. I like to think of the day as celebrating love in general, not just romantic. And I love hearts and pink, so I’m not going to ignore the day.

Soo.. we have lots of yummy things coming in time for Valentine’s Day, for however you celebrate it. We have some new gorgeous heart designs in artisan jewelry from Natha Perkins, heart pajamas from PJ Salvage, and the new Villainess seasonal scents.

Raspberry swirl is delicious and PRETTY! Characteristic Scent: sweet red raspberry creamed with soft vanilla” - we have soap, the beautiful sugar scrub, and of course “Whipped”, the moisturizer.

The other two seasonal scents that are in for Valentines are:

Torchsong: “a memory of raw coconut infused with heavy white blossoms - tuberose, orchid and awapuhi - and tonka bean, ginger crushed underfoot, damp moss and your vanilla perfume.”

The Truffle Trade: “a neglected box of chocolates - cherry cordials, coconut creams, almond clusters, raspberry parfaits, covered in dust, tossed aside for bigger game.”

I don’t know what I love most about this line, the products themselves (the sugar scrub is amazing AND a great price) or the fanciful descriptions.

Sooo... stop by, stock up on new Villainess (or find a unique and beautiful piece of jewelry for your sweetheart) and save me from using all the sugar scrub myself. :)
